Student Scholarships
The Estonian Foundation of Canada (EFC) scholarship is awarded to individuals who successfully complete and submit all of the following requirements:
1. Proof of permanent address in Canada;
2. Proof of Estonian heritage (at least one parent is of Estonian descent);
3. Registered in second (or higher) year of program of study in a recognized school of post-secondary learning OR receiving specialized training (for two or more years) in music, sports or another area of specialty. Please include proof of enrollment;
4. Application letter, specifying area of academic study, future plans in chosen area of study and activities in the Canadian Estonian community. Letter should include a paragraph about how their family (or the applicant) immigrated to Canada and how he or she intends to contribute to the Estonian community in the future. Letters should be limited to a maximum of 500 words;
5. Photocopy of school Student ID;
6. Two letters of recommendation:
- one letter from the institution of higher education (professor, instructor, etc.),
- second letter from leading figure in the Canadian Estonian community (Girl Guide or Scout leader, Pastor or other comparable community leader).
Note! Please ensure that letters of recommendation are sent directly to the EFC office or received in sealed envelopes to be included with the submission. EFC current board members can not write reference letters on behalf of EFC scholarship applicants.
7. Photocopy of SIN card;
8. Passport-sized colour photo of applicant by email to maimu@estonianfoundation for publishing in Estonian Life newspaper
9. Relevant contact information (mailing address, email address and phone number).

Submissions are reviewed twice yearly, in the Spring and Fall and must be postmarked by April 15 or October 15 respectively, to ensure consideration. Notification and awarding of scholarships to successful applicants occurs in June or December, respectively. The EFC cannot be held responsible for any mis-delivered submissions.
Applicants are eligible to receive an EFC scholarship once during their chosen program of post-secondary study.
