Student Scholarships

The Estonian Foundation of Canada would like to congratulate our FALL 2009 scholarship recipients:

The Estonian Foundation of Canada (NEFC) scholarship is awarded to individuals who:

1. live permanently in Canada and are of Estonian heritage (or at least one parent is of Estonian heritage) AND

2. are registered at least for his/her second year in a recognized school of higher learning OR are receiving specialized training in music, sports or in another area of specialty.

Please write an application letter to the EFC, in which you specify your area of study, your future plans in the chosen area of study and your activities in the Canadian Estonian community. Please include a paragraph about how your family or you immigrated to Canada and how you plan to contribute to the Estonian community in the future. Make sure you add your contact information (mailing address, email address, and phone number), so that we may get in touch with you.

Please add the following documents to your application letter:

1. proof of enrollment from an institution of higher learning;

2. a photocopy of your Student ID;

3. two letters of recommendation:

- one from the place of higher education (for example, from a professor),
- the other from a leading figure in the Canadian Estonian community (for example, a Girl Guide or Scout leader, your Pastor or other similar community leaders).

Note! Please have the letters of recommendation either sent directly to the EFC office or given to you in a sealed envelope to be given to the EFC office.

The deadline for applications is April 15th and October 15th of each year. Notification and the awarding of scholarships to successful applicants will take place in June and December of each year respectively.
