Aleksander Haavaniit

Alexander Haavaniit made the first substantial donation to the Estonian Foundation of Canada. He was a man with a vision and direction for the future of Estonians living in Canada.

EFC's first important donation came via the form of Haavaniit's personally owned business, Springmount Nurseries & Landscaping, based in Owen Sound, Ontario. Haavaniit donated his business to the EFC in 1978. By 1984, the EFC had earned over $140,000 in donations from the regular endowments from Springmount. Through his donation towards the good of the Estonian community in Canada, Haavaniit left a legacy behind.
